GM said in their annual report that Electric Vehicles are "Variable Profit Positive"
This means that the revenue generated from selling each EV, along with any battery manufacturing credits, now covers the direct costs of production, such as labor and materials.

The federal tax incentives for electric vehicles, which previously offered up to a $7,500 credit for new EVs and $4,000 for used EVs, are being terminated. Buyers have until September 30, 2025, to qualify for these federal tax credits before they end.

Starting this October, GM's EVs will not be "Variable Profit Positive", aka profit neutral with Government Handouts. Expect a shift in portfolio changes soon -> canceled EV projects.

Lol Mary knows we lose money with every EV sold. She doesn't actually want to eclipse TSLA in sales because her stock compensation would be much lower. But it would be awesome if people called her out on missing that goal.

Q1 2025 Sales: Tesla 128,100 and General Motors 31,887. Mary's 2021 goal of having more EV sales than Tesla by 2025 is still within reach if GM 5x sales for the rest of the year. But, at least GM's the leader in EVs.

They should get rid of all credits and deductions for individuals and corporations. Still have tax brackets. The tax code is to raise revenue for the government, not for social engineering.

@a1 Lol. Going from selling 5 EVs to selling 15 does not mean EVs are going to take over the world.

GM's EV sales are up 183% year over year.

So much for all the elderly curmudgeons who always bad mouth EVs on this board.
