@1h3 Their was a time when experience was valued by a company.
Companies only care about cutting expenses .
Using layoffs, bringing in Temp workers, Bringing in H1B workers, Using Robotics.
@OP This is not entirely true. There are many companies that value experience.
@19h I have no insight as to the layoffs, only to say I am the same demographic as you and its brutal out there. No one is hiring. Being middle aged, no one will hire you for even a simple entry level position and no one will hire you because you are too old. Translation = we are f'd.
@18t what are we facing here for May? Do you know? What areas are getting hit? I don’t know how we live like this year after year. The stress is real, especially being a middle-aged white man. i’ve been here 15 years and every single year we have this except for that period during Covid. That was the exception. It’s easy to say just go out and find another job if it’s too much, but I have invested a lot in my career here. I know they don’t care in the end. I’m also scared to hit the job market at this late stage so if anyone has any insight into what we are looking at for layoffs in May or later, please enlighten us
May list is published. July list being prepared now.
@t9 questions for Ron:
- are you worried about your job being off-shored?
- what % of your job can be done by AI?
- you realise that you arent Jaime Dimon, right?
@t9 That's one way to make the layoff lists
Ask Ron meeting on April 1st. Ask him about the layoffs.

What level is your manager? It is doubtful they know yet who is going… there are lists out there ranking reports and who is likely to go next. If you are near the top of the list for your manager you will then be compared to others from the next level so basically say you report to a VP all under him or her will be ranked. Then they go to the senior VP and they merge all those at the top of each list and perhaps discuss to see if them who ranks lowest … it may be apparent to your manager or not.
Then numbers gone down and they say we need x number of bodies from your team … the SR VP may go and start pulling people depending on what was discussed with his reports or maybe he just decides for whatever reason.
Long and short it can change in instant….happened that way in my team…I was told all was safe from my team they were going to get rid of someone else that was decided within are larger discussion but the Sr VP or who knows decided otherwise… I found out about a day before my report was notified.
@dr these data have been out on the sharepoint for weeks now. management is either ignorant or arrogant to this.
this fine institution's days are well behind it at this point. more and more jobs are going to india, where they produce slop work for those remaining in the state's to fix.
@OP you can see the entire PowerPoint presentation on the intranet with dates managers get training on how to tell you they’re going to fire you complete with a script
