Demotions on the way?

Are y’all hearing about the “spans and layers” conversation? Am being told demotions are on the cards as well? Is there no bottom?

I finally Googled it, turns out Spans and Layers is a thing, a few years back I was hearing a lot about "flattening" out the hierarchy to possibly condense teams where managers only had a couple of directs. This seems similar and likely an extension of those discussions. A little detail from ChatGPT:

Why Companies Analyze Spans & Layers

Organizations review spans and layers to:
Improve decision speed
Reduce costs (fewer unnecessary managerial roles)***
Balance manager workload
Simplify structure
Support growth or restructuring

Often, consultants look for:
Too many layers causing bottlenecks
Managers with too few reports (e.g., a manager supervising only 1–2 people)***
Inconsistent spans across departments

@18x

Are you calling for a worker’s revolution, comrade?

Gonna get you some of that “means of production”?

Historically thats the point where workers tended to destroy the factories and drag the oligarchs out of their homes. They say history repeats itself. I hope for their sake it doesn't.

At this point I don’t put anything past them. There are so many people out of work, desperate to find jobs. Many companies are now posting higher level jobs at lower salaries. I expect this company will keep doing things to try to force people out so they can rehire cheaper, here or at HIH, Ireland etc.
