There is no effing way anybody living in Southern California is going to relocate to Northern New Jersey just to keep a job with this company. Ain't going to happen. Ever.

@1dh

All of those endearing qualities you mentioned don't mean anything to the lizards running this place.

My GL just got the email this morning that he was being let go from his GL position, and to move all of the people he managed to his (Now former) boss. It su-ks too, because he was a genuinely good guy who truly advocated for those of us that reported to him. I'm definitely going to miss him.

Tomorrow in clifton. They don't do layoffs on Fridays here because a lot of people take off. So, it will begin tomorrow. The nice thing about tomorrow is that it never gets here.

Anybody see this news report? Unless time travel is a thing it indicates the layoffs occurred Thursday morning. The report was posted a day ago.

@18v He's been there a long time. I think he's orinally from Harris when they bought Exelis (formerly part of ITT ). How he wound up in Clifton is anybody's guess. Probably the corporate version of Siberia judging by what we've heard about Clifton. The last few directors failed miserably in a fairly short amount of time. You've got to give him some credit for hanging on as long as he has. Maybe no one told him the ship has already hit the iceberg.

@13m the new reality is that you can't count on your employer being loyal to you. All should adjust accordingly.

@13m so sorry you are feeling this way. I know exactly how it feels. I could not take the daily worry and stress of losing my job. I had to quit and get out of there and J am so relieved to be out of that hellhole. L3Harris treats their employees like garbage. Get out everyone you won't regret it.

It may begin today. 9/22 . I'm sitting in the parking garage at Clifton . Not sure if I want to go upstairs or turn around and go home for the day.
I'm so tired of the daily anxiety I just want this to end. Just a few years to retire. Too old, too white and too male to get another job .
Used to be ITT.
I hate working for this company.

We all know here in Clifton the next RIF is gonna hit us kinda hard. And it will be before the end of the month. The union isn't as worried as management.
Some work coming in from Van Nuys to keep us busy until hopefully some new contracts come our way. But quite a few engineering, quality control and middle management people are toast. Some of them are very long time employees who dodged the last one won't be so lucky this time. They are the last witnesses of when Clifton was a better managed place and L3 wants them gone.

About a year ago, L3Harris sold off a big chunk of its Space & Airborne Systems segment to Kanders & Company, Inc. for $200 million. This divestiture included airborne and ground-based antennas and test equipment. The reconnaissance business that was in Van Nuys will move to Clifton to be finished there . This was done to expedite the closing of the California facility., and to provide work for idle workers in Clifton.
But this is not a long term contract. Competition in the EW business from more agile companies and a dwindling skill set in New Jersey has motivated the company to further divest itself of what has become a stagnant business unit.

Clifton seems to be the Canary in the coal mine for L3HARRIS. New benches and fresh paint doesn't create talent. The only hope for long term employment here is if another company in the same business buys the place. But that's unlikely. New Jersey drives business sway just as bad as California. L3 wants to consolidate it's footprint in tax friendly places like Florida and Texas.

Non-stop drama at L3Harris keeps the RIF to keep margins up and survive. No new business or wins for the past year.

That's not true. We've got a couple of losers who use ALL of their PTO (4 weeks) by March and then use more . Nothing happened to them.
You'll get let go if you don't kiss their as--s.
