Thread regarding Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) layoffs

Has anyone heard about bonuses and raises?

My guess is plenty of first and second line management are going to have tough conversations this week.

Looking back, glad I bounced, beta Toni picked GL over AI gold rush, chillin' with lady bosses in Houston, Hermès belts flexin, got a lot in common with his brother Enrique wreckin' HP.

Juniper payout 115% this year. Heard HPE su-ked. Any of you clowns know what it was?

There's a surprising amount of entitlement around bonuses at HPE right now. Many seem to expect them regardless of performance, while overlooking how much politics and protectionism play a role here. In a more competitive environment outside HPE, a lot of roles would face real scrutiny…and honestly, some would struggle to justify their value.

What have any of you done to deserve a bonus? You're lucky to be employed.. you should be fired.. you add no value

@1g6 @186 That is not true, the two lowest levels of employees cannot get RSUs and no bonus target is assigned. They almost never hire at that level, but I had some before and the best we could do was 3% bonus for them a few years ago with Antonio overfunded the bonus pool and shorted us on raises. This transition has been in the works for years. Slowly beat you down so you're happy to get anything. Gone are the days of fully funded raise and 100% of your bonus target regardless of role.

@186 All levels of employees can get stock. There's just not much to go around, but it is not level-dependent.

@14n hey VP you probably in Marketing. That org tends to have strong visibility, and it can be easier to move up there, compared to other functions.

Wow, how fu--ing awful is that? Despite everyone contributing, you only award stock to certain level employees? I thought this was "the most just" company in the US?

@h6 yes we do. You have to be a certain level or higher to receive stock grants as part of annual performance and rewards. That level is usually master or above. I have seen exceptions.

I was able to award over $100k in stock across my team, and to some individual contributors, it did not all go to managers and directors.

It’s been tough to watch the layoffs. I hope we prioritize empathy, check in on people, offer support, and treat everyone with dignity. Many of those impacted were front-line contributors, and they deserve to be recognized and supported in this transition.

Respectfully, I am kinda surprised that anyone would post a question here, wondering about a raise and a bonus....
On a forum whose primary audience are people who have either gotten laid off, are about to be laid off or are really scared they are going to be laid off.
BTW I have worked for both of these companies and another (even more horrible company than Juniper or Hpe) ..those folks haven't gotten a raise in over 3 years (except of course the C-Suite execs who are laughing all the way to the bank).
My advice..perhaps a little introspection and compassion to most of the users of this site.
All that said, sounds like you feel pretty secure about your employment status..(which if you work in the US in Tech..probably naive).
I wish you good luck in your future.

@tk that was during the time that Rami would tell the Juniper population anything and everything to keep people from jumping ship. It was all LIES.

Funny thing is during some calls, we were told that the funding can be above 200% :)

Your raise is you weren't laid off.

Your bonus is you get to do the work of those that were WFR'd.

Since no one is actually giving out percentages here... For a couple of years before I left 4 years ago they were giving out 10-15% bonuses to me and the people I knew well (in services) who would relate their percentages. The raises were around the 2.5% range. That was for several years but before then practically nothing for either.

Well, there's your problem: "plenty of first and second line management"

Planners at the top. Doers at the bottom. Huge amount of cr-p in between.
