Thread regarding Gainwell Technologies layoffs

its the Testing Practice's turn now. if you are in shared services... you are next

just found out today that 80% of the testers belonging to the testing practice will be sent off to another company, Infinite.

So, NTT Data was the first. Now, they are doing the same to the testing practice. Based on all empirical evidence... the shared services tower is next. when? who knows, 4 to 6 months is my best guess.

we are going to be Infinite employees on March 3rd. we were just told today. we are talking of 250+ people. Many of them with 25+ years with the company.

So, if you are a member of the shared services org, you really, really need to pay attention to what is happening to us.

Take care people... rough seas ahead.

I’ve heard of employees out on disability being let go as soon as they return. Def take care of yourself and take your time. They did get severance of 1 week for each year with GW.

For the previous poster from call center @182+1jmdw07ew

Since you are on FMLA, job is secure until you are cleared to return by your physician..

Find another job anyways as your job will be outsourced soon.

I'm currently on a medical leave and wondering what this means for call center employees, in the Medicaid division. Can anyone give me Intel? I have been out since Thanksgiving, and have no clue how this new administration will effect the return to my position.

Am I reading this correctly. They are making all employees contractors and paying them less?

The COTS support is a pain. They need updates and updates often need upgraded operating systems etc. It takes quite a bit of time to plan and test these upgrades. And usually, only one or two people know anything about them, for each account.

"What COTS products do they even make?"
As far as I know, we use several COTS. We don't make them.

From shared services Gainwell will outsource support of certain COTS products to vendors like Cognizant, Infinite or tech mahindra. Gainwell has targets to meet by Mar 31st this year.

The age-ism comment was not meant to be derogatory to anyone, especially those of us who have been at the receiving end of wrong perceptions. I am gone from Gainwell now, thankfully.

no severance package is being offered. if we do not accept the offer from Infinite then we are separating "voluntarily" from Gainwell, therefore no severance.

its moving to Infinite or the street.

we are also being denied the chance to find ourselves a position on another team at gainwell. Not good no matter how you look at it.

why should members of the shared services org be concerned? well, they have been yanked out of their accounts. the actual account team (any account) its being reduced to the bare minimum. the testing practice was already a shared services organization. its not a stretch to think that this move to shared services for Devs, BAs and other people is in preparation to a similar fate.

it seems Veritas has found this to be the way to make the company's numbers look artificially good. this way, Gainwell no longer has to pay the meager severance package that they have been offering. another company has to pay it... if anything.

that is why people in shared services should be concerned.

Are the testers being offered a severance package vs working for Infinite? Understand most of the testers are very unhappy.

Not sure if the “age-ism” comment was derogatory towards those who’ve experienced it, or not. If it were, you’re one day older today then you were yesterday. You can repeat that to yourself everyday for the rest of your life.

Why do you say - if a member of a shared services team, to be wary? I thought their ss meant they were wanting to pool together their human resource from across accounts (which could have led to layoffs, anyway). I’m in the cross hairs of job being taken over by India. My job is determined no longer needed … but they want me to train my Indian replacement. I don’t get it …

LOL, "leadership and strategy"?!?! There appears to be little of either of those demonstrated in my experience there. Lots of wasted opportunities.

Since Gainwell does poor testing now Infinite will milk the leftover profits ( if any) from Gainwell.
Hats off to Gainwell leadership and strategy - abysmally clueless dragging Veritas’s hopes of any profits down the drains.

Lots of age-ism in the comments. The term lifer is more of a "mentality" than a longevity thing. In the Medicaid space, the lifers are trying to protect their turf/state by any means necessary and double down on stupid stuff. They are generally in the leadership layer, where their impact is felt the most and where the chaos thrives. Then there are just long time employees who need their jobs and want to contribute. Don't confuse them.
