President Trump to US car makers: let China come

https://www.thedrive.com/news/let-china-come-in-to-us-auto-industry-trump-says-while-in-detroit-tds

While in Detroit, Michigan speaking to the Detroit Economic Club President Trump said, “If they want to come in and build a plant and hire you and hire your friends and your neighbors, that’s great, I love that,” followed by “let China come in, let Japan come in;” Japanese automakers have auto factories in the U.S. today.

Our president loves beautiful clean coal.

Are you a mamdani supporter?

Economics as seen through a Wall Street lens doesn't cascade down to the fire in your garage, or the lack of a dealership to fix the junk, or the missing coal fired plants with all the smog they produce to charge these things. Good luck with this. But, maybe the big picture is no more cars for the middle class and this is just step one. EV's with all their comms can be shut off at will, so can charging stations. What a future.

"I just took a sh-t. This is true."

This is what happens when you hire people on H-1B. This is how the decisions to remove CarPlay and the to make the Camaro look ugly were made.

Saic contract with gm is up in 2027. Everything else is delaying the inevitable. GM sold out its people, it's legacy and it's tech thanks obama. . They will close down again and no one will blink an eye to this planned destruction of an American giant.

I heard while Canada is letting in 49,000 CHEAPLY priced Chinese EVs in, China also plans on building an EV plant there as well.

Good luck selling expensive overpriced cars.

What are you saying? don't build in America like Honda?

We would have cheaper cars, but at what cost?

@ye
hasn't Japan been stuck in stagflation for about 3 decades
their debt/gdp ratio sits around 150%
and they really have no military spending

i have a better idea
why don't we just strangle the US economy outright and get it over with

The company with the most "made in America" cars is Honda.
This might not be a bad idea for the country.

Interesting. Recently EU also signaled they'll stop the tariff on Chinese EVs and will only enforce a minimal price to only let higher end models in.

Is the west capitulating?

Then we are done. It's all a big show until the inevitable.
What's inevitable?
GM either becomes BYD or goes out of business.
It becomes BYD by having everything designed and built in South Korea and China.

THIS IS YOUR FUTURE.
