Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Awaiting updates regarding the cancellation of the CE1/Skunks works project.

After working on this project for two years, I have serious concerns about the successful delivery of the CE1 project.

@17b Ford’s idea of paying a bounty? Don’t hold your breath.

@176 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mlfiQ4YkIgs So is this a disposable vehicle? One and done?

So in the bounty system, where does sustainment come in? Or is it marginalized?

Did any of you even watch the informative video the Skunkworks team put out this week? I recommend you do and it will change your view on what Skunkworks and Model e are planning for Ford's future. Also to note, we should not be mentioning internal Ford program codes in a public forum.

"Model e and Skunkworks led programs are the bedrock of the company's future in mobility"

:D :D :D :D

Ford only exists because of F-150, period.

The rest is wasting F-150 profits on politics and management claiming success to climb the ladder.

People will see the SkunkMobiles, be underwhelmed, and the StinkWagons will be forgotten about.

I don't even think management is even excited about it. I think they're just pretending so when it doesn't sell they can say "nobody would have guessed that consumer sentiment and macro economic conditions would lead to failure."

@jf They carve pictures of current Ford execs and directors into the walls? Interesting!

@gn People carve in pe--ses and vaginas frequently, so it wouldn’t be helpful. At least with people constantly washing their feet in there, there’s another set of eyes to catch it.

Even if CE1 had a chance of success, as usual Ford is too late. There's a bevy of competing products in the space coming out. By time CE1 sees the light of day, at a higher price point than has been announced, one of the competitors will have already taken up the lionshare of the market.

How F stock isn't below $5 is beyond me.

@gk I thought the bathroom stalls had marker-proof coatings/surfaces.

It’s written on the wall and the next batch of 1000s will come within weeks of it

I'm expecting the unveiling of CE1 to parallel that of "The Homer"...

@cc

This is very, very easy to DO. They have been doing it for years which is why they are in the position they are in. Learning from that and doing something else? Well that's another story entirely.

@ak

Yeah even though it wouldn't surprise me, this is BS - it's not getting cancelled because if it does, you can bet some very senior people will be leaving. Why will this not happen? Because Ford has shown an inability to self govern and make the hard decisions, (and by hard, I don't mean laying off GSR's) I mean laying off very senior management because of the failure - it simply hasn't been shown to happen.

@c8 that’s my concern as well, how you deliver consumer product without consumer feedback

The problem with CE1 is simple. They think because they are excited about it consumers will be excited about the product. They are going to release it and be in for quite the shock. The people on CE1 have insulated themselves into a toxic positivity feedback loop that will come back to bite them.

Not canceled. CE1 and other upcoming Model e and Skunkworks led programs are the bedrock of the company's future in mobility. The company will not survive without these high tech products. A company cannot keep doing the same thing Ford is doing today and succeed. That is clear, which was discussed in the Global Town Hall. The Ford+ Transformation Plan still has the full support of leadership and the BOD to transform the company into new technology and away from troublesome legacy products.

@a4 Note to management: Strategy and Tragedy only sound the same. When will YOU ever figure that out? I'm betting on NEVER! F-O-O-L-S!

I've been expecting this since before the cancellation of FNV4 and I didn't even work on CE1. Doug Field's M.O. is failure and he never changes strategy. I left this company and the difference between leadership is night and day.
