Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

Layoff was the best thing ever….

Just joining the growing list of former Centene employees coming back to say, being laid off was literally the best thing ever for me. After 4 months of being unemployed, I have a job where I am appreciated and valued for my contributions. I enjoy going to work everyday. No longer having to deal with the knee je-k decisions made by sock puppet middle management has been nothing short of cathartic. I wish you all well (at least the grunts of Centene) and hope all levels of management reap what they sow. Cheers!

@38d This will definitely prevent people from speaking up about this type of behavior.

Hi, I was let go after requesting to speak with my supervisors manager about creating a hostile work environment. Where did you find employment if you don't mind me asking and are they hiring?

@279+1jvx0feyp unless there are two, which Im sure they are, I experienced the worst Senior Director I've ever met. And what floors me is that it's common knowledge. So much so that he had to moved to lead another state for a few years and brought back. He is in EBOS.

“After 4 months of being unemployed”

Good for you that this didn’t affect you. For others this is a serious impact on their life. Glad it was good for you. Enjoy the new adventure.

@279 why do I feel like I know exactly who you are talking about?

How can we volunteer a Director? A Director that can not read, yells uncontrollably in meetings, harasses and does not have the mental capacity to comprehend. Some people just want peace of mind to do their job and can not do it with sociopathic behavior. (I know we just have to deal with it but was hoping someone else noticed the culture of middle management).

Yes you can absolutely volunteer to be part of a RIF. It’s normally reserved for senior management where there is a trusted run out period agreement. We still have savings targets for 2025 and we have not hit those goals.

@1h7 No seriously, although I have no issues with my team, I am just over this place, barely any advancement, more productivity expectations, constantly having to complete work outside of your scope, I am also wishing this was an option, I’d volunteer in a heartbeat, but I also am not d-mb enough to just quit with what I make, guess I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place for now

@1k3 when you quit, you won’t get unemployment or severance package, so if get laid off, at least you will get some financial help before you find a another job

@1k3 if they took volunteers, they wouldn’t have any workers left…..

@1k3 volunteering to your leader to be laid off is like putting a target on your back. If they know you’re unhappy, they will put the sc--ws to you harder in an attempt to make you quit. This way they pay no severance and no unemployment.

@1k3 in Ohio they didn’t take volunteers for any of the rounds of layoffs, as some did volunteer. They also didn’t choose anyone close to retirement, despite being asked if it was a possibility. They refused to say how the people laid off were picked beyond “it was a calculation and was not based on performance.” My guess is they picked the highest paid for the positions affected.

@1h7 yes there is. You just tell your leader if there is a layoff coming up you’d like to volunteer if they have to pick someone. I hate that your team su-ks (I get it) but I am concerned how you want to be laid off but you can’t afford to quit. What do you think being laid off means? I hope you find a new team.

Is there a way to volunteer to be laid off? I am so done with this company, and my team SU-KS, but I can’t afford to quit

You all sound kinda salty, it’s challenging and yes answers and owners are hard to find but I’m treated well and I really enjoy the people I work with. I’ll probably be in the next round of layoffs so no shade I know many orgs are worse than mine.
