Massive layoffs just started this morning.

@jr I was waiting for a severance package, too, so that I could retire. I was happy to get the call but others need to find a new gig. They let go of some very good talent that can’t be replaced by AI. Their loss. I enjoyed my career in Telecom: United Tel., Sprint, CenturyLink, Level 3, then Lumen. I won’t miss the constant layoffs. This was my 6th and last layoff. I’m glad it’s over.
@1c0 they somehow get away with not having to do a warn notice, due to work from home and being spread out, I believe. They didn’t do a warn notice in 2023 either.
@263 bent over.
What was your position?
Was warn notice posted?
@16d
Contract for what? How do i get on this double dip train
Do you mean Omar?
@1ab yep, saw it on Linked in
Ophir is back?
Seems like alot of the kool-aid drinkers are seeing who's pouring it all of a sudden? Alot of layers to that onion, is there not? Even the "good ol boy" statements are back! Ahhhh, odd that the longer you live and the more change seems to happen... the more one sees that the same issues still persist. AI is a one-sided venture.
@165 absolutely happening!! Received an invite to interview with a contractor, 1 bullet point was take your lumen pension and Double dip, they even know what schools I’ve been too… Who do you think gave my info out?
@167 typical Lumen.. and yet they are bringing in more directors, like that Ophir guy.... can't sell, or get any work done, but all means lets bring in our buddies that left to go somewhere else, didnt' cut it, then came back to collect another fat salary from Lumen
@165
Maybe not replaced by contractors but there wont be a workforce at lumen in 3 years. Aside from enterprise employees.
@160
yep, about 3 years of work left for a handful of people and its all over.
So sales missed all of their quotas but they were not included in the RIF?
@160 not happening
@15g more like annoyed, with people and their s-xist & race baiting complaints!
Doesn’t really matter though, over the next 36 months lumen will shed about 95% of its workers in favor of contractors!
Whole lot of people are going to have to learn to swim on their own!
@157
You sound a little bitter. Like just maybe the person you’re responding to is talking about someone like you.
@ar Thank you for using that word correctly.
@OP what I have seen in the past the second line lays off the first line and then the 2nd line gets axed, hilarious.
Lived thru it .. if your blond and d-mb you can stay… or a friend if a friend ….but if your a person of color or someone they just don’t like …,they just give you the worst accounts .. your doomed .. while the rest are just order takers .. and say what you want but it’s the truth .. and I had years of telecom experience.. no one knows or cares .. the managers are children self involved narcissists
Lumen has become extremely top-heavy. This year, everyone being brought in was at the Sr. Director level and above. Some didn't, and still don't have, any direct reports. I got my walking papers last Thursday, along with many others in my org. Kate and her SLT preached for two years about "transparency" and "clear is kind" but then employees, once again, get blind-sided right before the holidays with no explanation. But hey, at least they reported good numbers!
One thing is surely true, if you are an older worker who has experience with Legacy systems, Kate, Kye and the other top brass don't care one iota about you growing in your employ at Lumen. Loyalty doesn't get rewarded with that ilk, they only want to chase the shiny new things to fool investors into thinking this company is going places
How is it most of my Enterprise and Mid Marketing co-workers in Sales miss their numbers routinely on a monthly basis…but they stay employed, shocker.
And next up will be union.
Too bad the BOD can't see how ceo is running the company into the ground.
Smart companies diversify. Lumen is betting too much on AI.
Although I was let go after 26 years, I asked for a RIF due to I was retiring next year anyway. Rec’d it 10/30/25. I do know of 1 other that was RIF’d after 20 years who didn’t see it coming. I’m sad for them. I went through 5 mergers and probably 50-60 layoffs over the years and made it till the end for me. But, Lumen has a LOT of issues they refuse to see or address. Poor management in many areas and terrible systems and processes. A real shame! Kate/Kye are pushing AI so hard that it will ultimately be their final downfall. Good luck to the good ones still left! And, as for the good managers, thank you! You’re a needle in the haystack!
I heard about 10% of marketing, some really talented people, ICs and managers. This is smart because marketing got Lumen on the map and are always busy, so that's clearly the team to cut.
Wonder what the overall numbers were. My department was more or less wiped out. I think 2 or 3 survived out of 20-ish. Even the manager who told us we shouldn't be worried about layoffs joined us in the unemployment line.
Cut off my access in 45 min, stopped access to my computer in 24 hours, won’t even let me send a goodbye email to my coworkers. Cold world. Berne brown taught them nothing.
I would say hundreds at most including managers. Sad to see.
@dy i'm in the sales org, and no one that I know was impacted. Only customer support from my side.
I only know one person director that was let go.
Yes it happened, many in ops and marketing. And again right before the holidays. But who would ever think Lumen and Kate cared about anything expect money?
I was let go on 10/30. Interested to know what the criteria was to be laid off. At the end of the day, I am relieved to be gone. Pi-s poor management and sh-t systems and AI is a complete joke.
At least I got a decent package I guess…lumen continues to spiral.
If you are management and worried about being laid off, you have no brain, you will always be someone that can be replaced. A college degree you can be trained and become a sheep.
Tim White is basically a rich re--rd.
Do we think there will be any more tomorrow or they just got it done before the earnings call?
So of course the day after employees had to accept or decline the att offer and the day of the quarterly earnings and the billions in contracts they are bringing in.
A shame this company is so cold and uncaring.
Pick me please! I’m ready guy go with a package
I know folks in marketing were affected by the layoffs. Absolutely ridiculous
