I can’t understand why TIAA is so worried about being the leader or AI in the industry and spending a lot of money on it when the basic programs that we use are down right awful. The new gen cloud is worse than the version we had before. Everyday there is always an issue with something.
Why not take the money they are spending on AI and instead invest it in better programs.

@165 IT is a good place to work, I do het inquiries to move on a regular basis but none can match the pay and benefits I get at TIAA.
The Amazon Q tool for software developers is great. For IT people, this is a good place to be.
Been that way for decades, no matter how much money is thrown at it. Bottom line is that anybody that would in a position that can actually make a difference that has the actual skills and talent to do it, is working elsewhere. Industry wide, everyone knows TIAA is joke and is more of an academic pursuit than an actual business.
Garbage in, garbage out. We can’t use AI effectively so while it may have ramifications on the industry, TIAA will once again be left with their pants down while the Fidelity’s and Vanguard’s of the industry take more and more market share.
@aj Anthropic’s CEO said at Davos that AI could wipe out up to 50% of entry-level white-collar jobs in the next 5 years, I would say that will be much higher here given most people’s jobs. An AI agent with PhD knowledge, can speak in multiple languages, never stops working, and costs 90% less than that of its human counterparts. I could see in 10 years less than a few hundred people working here if that.
AI is incredibly important to the future of TIAA. TIAA has to spend money on it or the company will be left behind competitors. Other firms are investing heavily in AI.
I don’t work in IT but the use cases for AI are many. TIAA needs to do things more efficient and cheaper to be competitive.
Long-term will it impact jobs? Probably. But there isn’t any point in fighting that. Focus on what you can control.
Agreed. Systems have been horrible here for literal decades. No amount of AI can’t fix the garbage systems and data. Need to start over and clean slate just about everything.
Also, by win another award you mean use our lack of raises to pay for another reward. Vast majority of the awards the Execs receive are bought into the “contest” to win some useless accolade for their trophy case.
