Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

RTO will make me quit in the end

Almost two hours wasted on the commute. On a good day. Feels like that was the plan from the start, to force people out without paying a dime. People mention real estate/tax incentives as the main driver of RTO, but I think it’s mostly about cutting headcount on the cheap. Everything else comes second. Time will tell.

@1rg nah... he's the obnoxious schmuck in the office. He thinks he'll start a wfh revolution by making it unnecessarily unpleasant. He wears too much cheap cologne... he plays his music without earbuds. He intentionally talks too loud when he's on a call. He's the one who won't cover his cough/sneeze. He does ALL the stuff he complains about hoping for some sort of uprising.
I don't really want wfh any more because of him.
I just want HIM gone by ANY means necessary.

@1jg,
I think he's a lot more boring than you'd think. I think the anonymous structure here gives him the courage to be the outspoken a$$ he is here.
I think he does everything he can to go unnoticed in real life. He dresses in neutral colors. He doesn't volunteer for anything work related and he scrambles to sign up for napkins or forks when there's a potluck... That way people can't dislike what he cooks. He fears the negative parts of participating in real life.

Oh good! We've reached the part where HR is manipulating the votes.
I believe the next step on the script is the super secret team devoted exclusively to making anti-xxxx posts. As if senior management cares enough to finance something like that.
Do you SERIOUSLY think you're that much of a concern to leadership?

@OP try commuting to, working at and, commuting from the North Haverbrook location.
You think you got it hard? Try having to take a monorail as your sole means of working commute and experience how "easy" that is? Or, try Brockway and Ogdenville. Same monotonous story.

Nah, someone got their feelings hurt with the "look in the mirror" line and tried to make up ground with a flurry of posts and updates.

Has the veneer of popular support but it's as thin and artificial as their core personality. Have to do a little better then that.

Once upon a time I didn't care.. WFH, RTO... it made no difference to me.
After months of listening to and reading the unhinged rants, whining and lies spewing from the WFH crowd I do care. RTO ASAP! Scr=w WFH!!!

@OP should NOT be working for the company in ANY capacity and is likely more of a drag on earnings than someone who builds value. Many have moved more than a few times with this company. While it sux hiring new people and getting them up to speed, I will be more than willing to bet that most people in your group won't mind the temporary hassle of replacing you. Don't let the door hit you on the way out!

And in Iowa during the GTE days they gave us each a goose that laid golden eggs. Guess what? They took those away too!!! Can you believe it??? The injustice of it all!!!

Get back to the office to do an honest days work, Bootlicker Guy!

@OP Just GTFO! No one told you to move 2 hours away from your means of income. That's on you! So stop whining and just GTFO! While a couple of people might miss you, the vast majority of employees, customers and stockowners will not! So stop crying and GTFO!

You're right on. It's fear. This bootlicker guy is scared of losing his job because of rto. Either he doesn't have the $$ the go through being fired or he doesn't have a strong resume. You can't hide something like this from your so. If he were my husband, I'd be talking to my lawyer. My kids and I need a smart man in our lives.

Absolutely.

No way for you to lick dem boots, any other way than in-office. Doesn't mean that most of your co-workers enjoy being there.

Take a long look into a mirror and see if you can imagine why.

Why wouldn't any of our leadership monitor this site and sites like it? There are people posting here in such a way that they are making absolute fools of themselves. They reveal all their deepest fears without even realizing it. For example, The depths to which people fear RTO absolutely amazes me. It's irrational and paralyzing. I wouldn't have realized this without this site. This place is an invaluable resource. I can't imagine not seeing a value in coming here no matter how high my position in this company.

No need to try to wrap your head around any big picture thinking. Please go back to your next call or manhole. Enjoy tomorrow morning's coffee and doughnuts.

A 95% failure rate is considered a win for the organization? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

If it is not made up, I am sorry to hear about your unfortunate encounter with the catlady. I appreciate your post, though.
The takeaway is that there are interactions occurring that wouldn't if you were all at home. For every interaction like yours there are probably 30 to 50 more that aren't posted here. If 5% of those result in a result that can be considered positive for verizon, that's a win!
I'd also like to mention that we have online classes that are completely free to you that will help you improve your emotional intelligence quotient. I'm sure they can help you deal with situations like this in a more mature way.

@15x, The needs of the business often change. In cases where you are not willing to accommodate those changes, the job you currently hold may no longer be beneficial to you. In a case like this you are free to leave the job. Just like we are free to terminate your employment when you are no longer deemed an asset to the company.

I went in yesterday and the Local Cat Lady was hovering over desks with the tunafish breath tell each person individually about her Cat.
I interrupted her and let her know that she should call an in-person meeting instead so that she could actually WORK while in the office.
She's mad at me.

Some people have been WFH long before Covid. They were hired as WFH and are now being forced into an office. They are salaried employees so how they spend their day is technically irrelevant. It only matters if they are completing the job functions that they were hired to complete for their salary.

it’s not happening. company is too timi d with cams & mics on at home, which is sad, but that’s the w0ke culture of 2025 in which a company is afraid to go that camera & mic on at home route. just go to the office where you belong

Why aren’t WFHers monitored by having their laptop cams & microphones on at ALL times during work hours, while logged on? What are they hiding? Same goes for their phones. Should be GPS tracked & monitored. And if you’re concerned about privacy issues , the solution to pipe down would be to just go back to the office lol. Or of course,
being against a front-facing cam of your work area while ‘working’ from home means you’re up to something nefarious

You have monitored them all, to enable yourself to make a sweeping statement like that? Cuz you certainly aren't just blathering out of your farthole, now.

Perhaps it's really you that needs a hard look at how you spend your work hours. I'm sure that "self-appointed hall monitor" isn't anywhere on your job description.

“RTO is all about ensuring full time hours for full time employees.”

Correct. No more shooting hoops in the driveway for half the day, going to Chipotle & Starbucks 3 or 4x per day, binge watching TV series & doing whatever millennials & boomers do all day. And then ‘working’ for about 20 minutes and then coming here to whine & complain about having to return to the office and citing fake, unsubstantiated non peer reviewed ‘studies’ showing people being more productive from while working from home

We laugh at your sense of entitlement, smug sense of victimhood, fake virtue signaling & recalcitrance. And it’s glorious! Imagine that: having to report to an office. That’s soooo Amnesty International worthy lmao.

Millennials & Boomers are the worst
