Thread regarding PayPal layoffs

Layoffs

Hey everyone, just wondering if anyone’s heard anything about potential redundancies or layoffs at PayPal in the new year? There’s been a bit of chatter lately, but nothing concrete, so I’m curious if anyone’s picked up on any rumours or has a general sense of what might be coming down the line.

Expect a big one in Q1 or Q2 2026 and 1 last push in Q1 or Q2 2027. The costs will be spread over the financial reporting year so as to not impact the bottom line in one year.

Expect to see many managed out the door within this timeframe , pips etc

@1x8 it will be interesting to see what transpires. I think most people are losing faith in getting a payout to leave

Expect a major one at the end of January — the executives even gave this layoff a code name: Project Jan 2026 (such great imagination).

@16g they don't give redundancy for needs improvement. They put these people of performance management plans and get them out this way with zero severance package.

@14t what are you saying, They will make needs improvement workers redundant?

There are minimum Needs Improvement percents. Some orgs higher than last year, higher than what HR says.

@at I’m eagerly awaiting news of any upcoming redundancies, hoping that if they do happen, I might finally be included. It’s a strange mix of anticipation and relief — the idea of a fresh start feels more freeing than frightening at this stage.

@OP PayPal has allocated 95 million USD for severance packages over the next two years — how much more of an indication do you need to see what’s coming down the line? Layoffs have already been happening in recent weeks, and there will likely be either one large round and/or several smaller ones continuing through 2027.
