@154 how many headcount do you think y’all are down by?
@142 There have been. Often called 'retirements', but not always.
Why aren’t there layoffs in investments
They have been keeping the daily layoff numbers on the low side so that they can keep doing them constantly (keep under 50 a day). It keeps them under the radar for the government reporting they would have to do for larger layoffs. That’s why we haven’t seen the recent TRP layoffs in the press.
Forever Layoffs": A shift away from large, annual, blockbuster layoffs has led to more frequent, smaller reductions (often affecting fewer than 50 people) to constantly adjust to market conditions and AI adoption.
@ap it’s actually not normal for a company to have layoffs almost every year since 2022 and then constant layoffs pretty much monthly since July 2025. I’ve worked here since 2006 and even layoffs during the GFC weren’t this bad. This feels like unorganized flailing and panic.
@ap this is TRP though, not Blackrock or some Wall Street giant. Imagine the stress of a respectable firm while working in fu--ing Baltimore lmao
