Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

All the cuts have made Intel’s workforce easily a decade younger on average

Some people might see that as a positive, but anyone who understands how crucial institutional knowledge is knows it’s a huge mistake to wipe out an entire generation of employees who helped build this company from scratch. The experience and history they carried cannot just be replaced overnight.

@OP Well, that does explain the increasing number of binkie sightings on campus.

Based on what I am seeing, young talent is leaving Intel faster than anyone else. Nobody wants to waste their time at Intel anymore. Cat is out of the bag now, and the unfounded storytelling is no longer convincing and the incompetence of all management layers is now totally exposed. Trust at all levels of leadership is totally crushed to pieces with no hope of recovery. Nobody can lead any impactful work at Intel. Everything is now purely driven politically with no technical pivot or concern for Intel's future. It is totally heartbreaking to see Intel go down like this in the hands of self promoting muppets...

Intel’s workforce is two segments: fat old white guys waiting to retire and young Indian h-1bs waiting to get their green cards and bolt out to AMD or Nvidia. Tough choice whom to fire first.

It can absolutely be an issue. On the other hand you also lose people who have been here 25 years and should’ve been fired every single one of those years.

Su-ks when you get up to 50 or 60. You're a prime layoff target, no matter how much you want to keep working.

Sounds like intel is in the rebuild phase. IMO, would be good to see the younger folks succeed where the older folks did not.

Yes, even worse is when these younger employees are now managers. Very inexperienced, poor balancing of workloads, not knowledgeable in other domains, and lack of trusts of there employees.

Fortunate enough to get to work with some awesome senior engineers before they won the Intel lottery. Don't plan on sharing nor staying for long.

This is a huge problem - signed, a new, younger employee that lost all senior techs during recent layoffs and have no one with experience to help train me or troubleshoot issues
