@bw Not True! I just retired and am getting all the benefits including medical!
@k9 . . . AND, if you are under 65, you get to stay on the same group health plan that you were on while still working. Then, when you hit 65, they facilitate the Medicare Advantage Plan. That's not too terrible. . .
My pension. And some concessions.

I "retired" at age 50 +1 day.
The extra day to guarantee that I met and in fact exceeded the Mod Rule of 75 and even
then the F's tried to "rotate" me.
That will be 22 years August 30.
@117 This only applicable if you keep your funds in the AT&T 401k, correct? If you convert to an IRA, to allow for more diversification, you have to wait until 59 1/2 still.
Rule of 55 you can also withdraw your pension if you’re lucky enough to still have one with no early withdrawal penalty. Did this move in 2022. Best move I ever made at the T.

It is amazing how this poor decision gets overlooked. He traded a $25K annual payment for a $100K+ annual payment to try and get folks off the payroll. While a few people did retire, many more folks have had to stay around several additional years because of this decision.

Penalty is 10% . You won’t be needing it for long.
Also if used for kid’s tuition irs lets you withdraw penalty free

The largest benefit you get is relief from 5x RTO. Amounts to nearly $10,000 savings annually.
the only truly retirement benefit left that is worth anything is the medicare advantage plan.
If you are asking about benefits for management retirees, there is a PDF file you can download in HROS that details all the freebees and discounts. Trust that document and not what you read here.
Rule of 75 greatly matters when you transition from non mgmt to mgmt and you have 2 pensions!!! It could be a difference in a lump sum payment of 300k or more. Interested to see how many layoffs are with people near this rule of 75 milestone!
One thing folks don’t look at it the rule of 55. Not a company benefit. It allows you to early withdraw 401k (usually 59 1/2) without penalty as long as you retire with the company you have 401k with as long as you are 55 or at least in the year you turn 55. AT&T still has mod rule 75
25 yrs here, no medical, ya ya modified rule of 75 but what good does that do unless your 62 or over to collect anything. COR store, not management.
@a7 a lot do people didn’t answer this OP seriously but this reply truly answers the question — all in all, Stankey took away health benefits for management employees a long time ago. Sad how he did this. It was “small potatoes” but he made so many bad choice that cost billions that he was desperate to squeeze every nickel. How he can sleep at night drawing the salary he does isn’t just sad and unbelievable, it’s also suspicious. Why didn’t board allow him to be Chairman of the Board… what does this man have that allows him to remain unscathed from all his misdoings?

It can depend whether you're bargained for or not? When you were hired? What your legacy company is, if applicable? etc..
If you a new non-bargained for hire with T, you basically get a phone/broadband concession. No reason to hang around or be loyal.
One benefit is having a clear path once surplussed. Retirement is usually the only choice since therm aren’t other employment options.
Union is worthless. All they’ve done the last several contracts in any region is give benefits back and cram it down members’ throats as a “win”.

Depends, newly retired bargained for- yes.
Newly retired managers- no.
However, bargained for retirees benefits could be pulled at anytime the company decides to do so, those are not guaranteed for life.
