Enbridge Gas Distribution Ontario Strike Prep

Preparations are underway getting Supervisors and contractors ready to step in if Unifor Local 975 Strikes as contract ended Dec 31 2025.

Crazy if they do as will give company more reasons to downsize Union Workers.

@3eg Agreed. The company is fixated on financial returns, not people. So you should do the same. Make it transactional.

Examine everything.

  • The working conditions
  • The market conditions
  • Competitions from other sources for employment
  • Salary, benefits, time off

Be heartless. And when those things are too far unbalanced, cut the cord and move on. Do what is in your favour.

But if it's in your best interests to stay, do that. And keep your side of that transaction healthy. If you offer good value, and they pay you appropriately for it, the transaction is working for everybody.

You need to be sure you're being compensated fully along the way. It's not an investment in your future, so don't let it be treated as such, and don't be fooled into believing it.

But don't jump for greener grass until you know there's at least a lawn on the other side of the fence. You might be on the greenest grass available to you.

@110 STO's strike lines were limited to STO compressor sites and related construction sites only. 975 had no work whatsoever that would require them to interact with the 999 STO picket lines, let alone cross them. STO was on strike for a total of 3 weeks, that's 6% loss for that year only and achieved an additional 2.2% raise knocking that back to 3.8% for that year and easily making up the loss in the 2 following years. In the next contract they broke a record by negotiating the first ever contract before the current expired receiving 12% spread over 4 years with a large signing bonus. These are all facts that you can check on yourself. Everything you've spouted is complete BS.

Everyone ! I mean EVERYONE !
Should realize the proof here.
The company has proven we will use non-union people who we don’t give a $hit about.
To sc--w over the union people we don’t give a $hit about !

This is whatever benefits the company.
If you think Enbridge management and executive truly care about people then you are an id--t.
Money is it and only it.

@11k Truth is the whinny little bird who wrote this, have been benefiting of the unions perks of fair wages for decades, today when there is uncertainty goes straight to touting management, and will most likely back stab the union and union members, people like this just perpetually backstab and switch tones for their benefit, I am sure looks like a weasel too, probably had their partner talk to the supervisor to even get hired, because in the real world was unhirable

@11f

I am unionized, not in management. Maybe go complain to Doug? I'm sure he would love to hear your whining.

It's time to face some reality.

@110 Says all the non union staff who gets their boundary crossed all the time, the company treats them like and discards them anyway, never forget the very company you kiss a-s for today, supervisors manager, you ll be discarded and backstabbed by upper management with no fu--s given, never forget that... and most management employees are very unwanted and employable, its going to be very hard for you to just another management position at any industry when you are kicked out...never forget that ..especially director manager level, once moulded by Enbridge management work culture you are kind of toast, especially because you spent a lot of time there ,your golden years, good luck being a pseudo manager at qsp geographics with 80k pay, and doing Enbridge director s slide while the person is on vacation...management game at Enbridge is the ultimate cuck , workers can be absorbed easily at any industry, but management is an exclusive club you just can't walk in another industry, later cucks !

Unifor 975 showed zero sympathy when STO went on strike and crossed many of the lines.

It's also pretty well known that Enbridge wants to get rid of USR's and their actions over the last number of years clearly show that. 99% of the USR work duties can be completed by contractors already.

If I was 975, I would take whatever percentage they are offering and move on. Striking only got STO an additional 1-2% each of the years, and the loss of pay still affects some individuals even today.

Sounds like the company will offer very little to the union- if it anticipates a strike- & needed to post it on this website

I have been part of management for over 10 years, of those 10 years has always been towing the line and not going anywhere. I don't get any support from my leaders. I'm done with Enbridge, I fully support the union going on strike. I may even join them. Enbridge is a garbage low surfing company. They only care about greed. It's time for a change.may Enbridge fall and burn and a new leadership imerges to make Enbridge great again.

Yes they do it everytime, but they are providing in depth training to pipeline contractors NPL and Aecon to handle maintenance and emergencies right now. Just go out of a week of training.

I agree with the OPs supervisor 100%.
I've heard USRs care only about getting call outs rather than dealing with the emergency call. They complained themselves right into Lakeside taking over. If USRs would have showed their value and minimized costs and maximize efficiency, then Enbridge would have went with the most affordable option.
Note...Not all USRs... Waterloo districts and Halton/Hamilton area USRs were good.

I am on the Union side this time, ENBRIDGE is the worst company to work for and someone has to stop the BLEED. WE all need to unionize and fight back against this evil monster. 13 years of layoffs and broken promises, time to unite and fight back!

The supervisors and other non-union staff do training every year, not just negotiation years. If the Unionized staff were at all productive and not complaining all the time, they wouldn't have to worry every time the contract was up for negotiating.
And I speak from experience - former Ops Supervisor, would have workers whining at 10am if they had to attend an emergency, that they couldn't work late!?!?! I would just shake my head...WTF...what's happened with this next generation?

They do this every time we're in negotiations. Does it seem a little more likely this time, maybe, but it's not new.
