Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

What’s going on with all the self made titles for Cigna employees?

Since when did HCSC start allowing employees to make up their own titles for public use?

Chief growth officer?
Market presidents?
Directors who are not directors?

@159 agree, Josh has been able to drive a lot of change post merger. He can absolutely support.

I would compile a list of concerns and work directly with Josh Akovenko. He will influence and drive appropriate outcomes.

@10y you should probably read the corporate policy handbook on responsible use of social media. You’re only fooling yourself if you think they don’t monitor it.

@10y it’s also an at will employer. If you don’t like the rules you don’t have to follow them. You just might have to not follow them somewhere else lol.

Good luck with that.

@f5 you may feel that way but linked in is someobe’s social media site. They can do whatever they want to promote themselves. Is it ethical to lie about what you do? No. But it’s also not a fireable offense.

I’m from Cigna and promoted myself when I got here, no better time to infer you had a better secondary title.

You can thank your HCSC hr for the great cross mapping they claim to have worked so hard on to give us new titles to jobs that have nothing to do with our actual job functions. We’re holding on to our old titles to ease confusion with who does what.

What is higher up the totem pole, President or Chief Growth officer?

LinkedIn, Email signature titles
marketing materials with bios

Not ethical at all.

@ar sounds like you’re one of the self made up titles.

Cigna didn’t want you. You weren’t making them any money so they sold at a discount. Quit crying about it already.

Why don’t you ask your HR who gave Cigna people titles that apparently didn’t exist previously. A lot of HCSC people act like we asked to be brought here. You all bit off way more than you can chew, but yes let’s troll about titles.

@ah pretty sure you’re comparing an email signature to an official title.

Not the same.

@OP Dream BIG, be whomever you feel like it when you want to. If you think the titles are a bit much - take a look at some emails where people write all kinds of "guiding words" and "insights". welcome to crazy town!

@OP it’s not just Cigna employees. We have plenty of HCSC “officers” as well.
