Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Q used be be better than this

Q used be be better than this.

i really mean it. Unfortunately no one is going to try to fix. some says 'leave company'. but those are just less than 5 or 10 yrs. and yes CA really need to do something about middle managers than asking all these useless feedback thing.

i see a lot of ppls to have zero loyal to this company but money.

@ze Next time a chip does not work my answer will be: ehi do you want instant gratification? Then this is not the company for you. I need to try for 5 years to get the fu--ing chip to work. We have a mo--n as a CEO and a weirdo as a CFO

I've worked at Qualcomm while Irwin Jacobs, Paul Jacobs, Steve Mollenkopf and Cristiano Amon have been at the helm. It has progressive gone down after Irwin's departure, crossing the threshold to sh/th@le under Amon. Grading them: IJ 10/10, PJ 8/10, SM 6.5/10, CA 2/10. How the board puts up with CA is beyond belief! Is there any wonder that wall street has no love for Qcom?

@cs No wonder you're crying if you don't know what visibility means and how to get it. Your manager is a clown for not being able to explain it to you and you're even more of a clown for not trying to figure it out on your own. Instead you're crying on a forum. It's a miracle you were even hired in the first place. Your interview group are all clowns.

@bq Your reply is 100% true. My manager used to tell me that I need "visibility". He said I worked hard and attended meetings but don't have enough visibility. When I asked him what "visibility" actually meant, he couldn't explain it. Turned out that "visibility" just means being a clown who entertains higher-ups, even though he trash talked them behind their backs, or someone without morals who throws colleagues under the bus to gain credit, etc. It is sad and toxic. And BTW., it was one of the infamous departments in SD site.

Q has always been toxic. But the demographics were different vis-a-vis back when Irwin, Viterbi and Padovani were there.

The promo system and compensation are totally unfair at Q. You don't need to be a best engineer. You need to get the visibility only that is coming from network. Lots of good people already left Q because of toxic culture. You can stay at Q while developing the good network with toxic management, but you will lose skill sets and learn how to survive without doing real work.
