Are we done with RIFs for 2025? I get that we will always have smaller RIFs but is the major one done with? Do we historically have RIFs during the holidays? Are there going to be changes to organizations because of the massive amount of RIFs in October?

@193 PTO payout is still required in a few states. With unlimited pto they can save money on riffs in those states now.
@11t - the change in PTO to unlimited doesn’t change PTO payout. You already can’t get paid for unused PTO when you leave

There are usually some big ones near the end of the year. I would expect there to be several during the early to mid year in 2026. They are reducing salaried employee payments for each paycheck and they are also doing away with PTO days for many salaried employees. This will allow them to cut more people with less overhead as you won't be getting your full salary if you are let go and they won't have to pay out any accrued PTO days, since they no longer exist. But you will get free virtual care for your dog.

The only reason they don’t RIF on the holiday weeks is the Riffers don’t want to show up to do the Rifs. I imagine they’ll try to start just prerecording with AI so they don’t even need to attend a call at all to tell you.

Far as I can tell the Big Rifs are over for now. Yes small Rifs, and who knows what is in the future. But the massive ongoing rif situation of 2023-2024 has shifted to a trickle or more localized situations at ELV
For years, annual RIFs were done the Thursday before Thanksgiving. So there could be more if you go by history.
@OP If you've been reading this board and paying attention to the posts, you'd know that the RIF's are NEVER done and that historically the holiday season is one of their favorite times of year to RIF. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but this is the way it is.
The 2026 RIF machine requires fresh meat. You have the rest of the year to figure out how to get out of this hole.
