Nov Grant Prideco began its lay offs today.

Yes. My nephew was a recently hired field service tech in Oklahoma. He and the three other most recent hires got laid off on Monday.

Laid off about 8% of our facility last week (2/17). More on the way.

Last downturn saw some locations implement unpaid days off and of course there were some layoffs. What are you hearing this time around?

I know this is a site for layoffs but wanted to see what you all think about compensation levels here. I think that people do not want to work hard because there is no carrot and they feel that they are paid below what they think they deserve.

That's what I heard. That might be a rumor only but I got this from a fairly reliable source. Cannot guarantee anything and I do not specifics, so this is just food for thought. I think we are doing well, however you never know.
