Motorola admits to having problems in recent years but insists the future is bright. CEO Christopher B. Galvin declined to comment for this article, but Motorola executives who report to him say he has set a hurdle of 15% to 20% revenue growth and, despite the company's problems, expects to achieve that within the next year or two. Galvin is betting that the industries the company is in will grow 15% a year, and expansion into new markets will be frosting on the cake. "We're not very happy with the last few years of business results," says Merle L. Gilmore, an executive vice-president.
