Capital One system is anything but fair or equitable

Anyone that believes the Capital One system is fair or equitable is not living in reality. The biannual process is a popularity contest not based on any quantitative data or any tangible results and is based on how well your manager and his/her peers... — read more

This is becoming ridiculous... Working at Capital One is like being a part of a never-ending competition... You are pitted against all of your coworkers day in day out for the privilege of keeping your job (promotion is just a pipe dream...)... — read more

A view from Wilmington

Captial One is very competitive, very political and has the ultimate cutthroat environment. Currently, we are in a massive "redeployment" mode – you should replace the word “Redeployment” with the word “Layoff” as it’s synonymous. Not sure if it... — read more

Laid off in 2013

After 28 years with the company (multiple mergers) I was laid off! The package deal was not fair as it goes by salary and not years with the company. They were fair in a lot of the package but it was horrible being laid off. It felt like a breakup... — read more

Meltdown - sub-prime credit card market

Capital One is the key player in the sub-prime credit card market. I wonder if Capital One regards its employees the same way Capital One regards those who have one (or more) of its sub-prime credit cards.

Job Cuts in 2016 and Severance Payment

Do you know the terms of the severance payments for the employees that were laid off in 2016. It seems that not all people were treated equally? Are there cases of discrimination?

About to be hired

Offered an IT manager position, currently employed. Reading all the stories about forced ranking and layoffs, feeling insecure. Have a family to support. Can anybody share a severance package that Cap1 offers? Is it negotiable? Please respond ASAP!

More to come...

Capital One recently completed the purchase of a web dev firm (Monsoon) in NoCA; guess this doesn't bode well existing dev teams, especially for the customer-facing teams. #shrinkingRVA

Capital One is not different from other banks, we all have issues on the mortgage side: WF, BOFA, Chase, you name it. We'll just have to wait and see what's going to happen in Q3 when our planned reorg will start.
