Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Whiteboard Announcement

So I just got fired by Target. No talk or anything like that, just a letter posted onto a whiteboard with my name on it saying I've been "terminated". My problem is why was I let go? I was trained in 4 departments (Electronics, Market, Cashier, and Hardlines). I'm one of two people in the whole store who can do all those departments. They decided to keep all the girls who came in a month after me. I talked with my other co-workers and they also don't get it. They said out of all the seasonal workers I should have stayed for sure. It weird that only the girls were allowed to keep their jobs. I think what ticks me off the most is that I wasn't even told directly but rather by letter. I mean it's HR's job to this kind of thing. Do they not have the balls to tell someone that they are fired? (Side note: I would have not been as angry if I were told directly)

A company that handles terminations is not a place you want to work. They don't value their employees. Find a good company, there are many out there.

No, not a seasonal team member

Not really. When seasonal team members are hired it is very clearly explained to them that they are being hired for a short term seasonal need and that there is no guaranteed continuation of employment after a specific date in January.

Were you a seasonal team member? If so, your seasonal employment probably ended.
