Thread regarding Heald College layoffs

I think it is over for Heald

I get the feeling it is over for Heald. I can tell you that at the campus I teach at enrollments are way down, the managers and PD's just seem like they are going through the motions.

The e-mail we got last week from Eeva Deshon was a joke.

The feeling I get is that we are in a teach out. They just don't want to tell us.

Funny, aside from paper not being ordered in huge quantities and repairs not being made, it feels like business as usual in Stockton. Almost surprised we haven't debated dress code issues in a while. Best enrollment numbers in a couple of quarters.

Too bad Harris seems to be blocking a sale.

It is a distinct possibility that Harris won't let a buyer off the hook for liabilities.

A distinct fact is that current students are vocal about the fraying states of the campuses. On our campus, the rooms are filthy, the computers are never upgraded (from IE to graphics cards), the software licenses have lapsed or don't work at all anymore, the home page goes to a blank screen. In addition, some PDs are busting their butts for their programs, and others do nothing - I can't count how many times students have complained about incorrect schedules (to the point that the lack of planning leads to the students having to take another quarter just to graduate). There is no money coming in (where is all the tuition going, they ask) and it blatantly shows.

209: How could you possibly know this is a fact?

It's over for Heald. The shutdown is occurring over the next couple of quarters. The enrollments are too LOW to pay the bills.

We are having lots of tours but very little enrollment.

I'm sure the feeling is different from campus to campus, but for ours it definitely feels like we are at the end of the line. Even if a sale happens.

Heald is not in teach out mode...yet. I'm not saying it isn't a possibility, but if we were in teach out we wouldn't be allowed to enroll new students. When they stop enrolling, teach out has begun.

It's over for Heald. Actually a soft landing being a teach out is likely to be the best possible outcome. Quite likely a hard landing being a CCI bankruptcy is the likely outcome.
