QC is still the dominate LTE provider, though MediaTek, Spreadtrum and Huawei looks like have been gaining ground.
Once you give the technology know-how to other companies that use to be your customer, it's only a matter of time before they become your competitor. If in doubt, ask Motorola Mobility, and observe its rise, catastrophic fall, and subsequent acquisition by Lenovo. Motorola use to train every other OEM/carrier with via Motorola University. That knowledge transfer and its complacency of always thinking its #1 ended up biting them in the ass when everyone else ended up out-innovating them. Same could be said for Lucent, Nokia, NorTel, Alcatel, all dead companies now.
In short, you creative types here at QC better come up with something new really soon. That's the only thing standing between you and every other company that's going to be offering similar products "good enough" at a much cheaper price.
