Thread regarding Weatherford International Ltd. layoffs

50% reduction

I heard 50% reduction as well from a manager. It makes sense if the comparison between WFT and schlumberger are true.

I don't know if this 50% is our location or company wide. It's hard to believe they would do 50% but you never know. I don't see how this manager wouldn't know numbers. It's pretty stressful! Don't know what they're waiting on!

So now the rumors are HALF of us are getting laid off? Pure comedy.

50% seems EXTREME...I sure hope that's false!

Agreed on overworked if 20% or more. I do two jobs as it is. Part of our inefficiencies lie in lack of internal innovation and process improvements. Upper management at my facility does not want to change, some of which is due to age and some is due to stubbornness and plain ignorance of the internal methodology.

I've said it before and I'll post again - I think that anything more than 10% is stupid. Anything more than 15% is nuts and anything more than 20% is suicidal. How would we work if we were to cut 50% of staff? Many positions are already overworked to the maximum.

Did the manager say if they were going to be centered on any particular product line or region?
