Reporter looking for help

We are producing a series of radio stories about people affected--positively and negatively--by lower oil prices. If you or someone you know has an interesting story to tell that would help outsiders better understand what's happening, please contact me at jbrady@npr.org or 202-513-3414.

While you are doing your research on people, try figuring out why the Society of Petroleum engineers (www.spe.org) year after year reports average annual petroleum salaries that are twice what you find on the Bureau of Labor Statistics, glassdoor.com, indeed.com, payscale.com, etc. The SPE's inflated "statistics" such newcomers into an industry that's uncaring. The SPE is self-serving. There is something wrong with the SPE and someone should report on it.

Thanks for the nice words 60972. 60924: I need to make contact with folks who I can interview in-person. We are looking for people all over the country. I'm planning to be in Houston next week. jbrady@npr.org.

Anonymous60931 - NPR cares more about O&G workers than any other media. Find me one outlet that was interested how PEOPLE felt about what's going on. We do get businesses POV all the time, but how about workers. How much chaos is all of this causing to the common man, to families, children in school, real estate prices, savings levels, mental health, etc. It's not all about the bottom line, even though the bottom line is the most important for every business. And, why do you come to this site where people share information, whine and complain, if you do not care about how they feel. I say, let everyone tell the story, and you, the reader or information consumer, decide about how to processes and perceive the info that was served to you. Open up your mind...
