Activists! Are you serious about this? If all these so call activists were serious about the students they would ask for all CCi crooks to be put in jail and pay damages from their own pockets. They would force ECMC to get rid of people like NC and others. Instead, ECMC is planning to move over almost all the crooks who put us in this mess.

OK, look... Maggie and Higher Ed, Not Debt has been pushing against mandatory arbitration and other elements of "the agreement" for months. And the link provided by the OP contains photo and comments covered all the way back to December 11. The rush to the press is fine but only if you are willing to provide new and VERIFIABLE information related to the criminal investigation. Otherwise, you'll get what you have now, which is the same thing you have been groaning about on this website since July. Wake up.

660- While I am in no way a supporter of Jack and his band of thieves, please undertand that the article was written by someone who openly discloses that he is actively adviocating that the deal not go through. All deals of this nature are complex. Its a matter of whether or not you believe Jack, and that it is just a matter of working through the process. Looking at all the data out there, I tend to think that the deal is at risk. There are lots of parties involved, all with their own agendas.

Wow. This deal is such a long shot! "Several things must come together for the deal to pass regulatory muster: Corinthian's multiple accrediting agencies have to approve of the new owner; the Iowa attorney general needs to grant ECMC immunity from the fallout of an investigation by 13 states into Corinthian's practices; and Corinthian may have to get approval from its creditors. It's not all that surprising that the two parties couldn't meet their short deadline. But as negotiations drag on and complaints about the deal grow louder, the risk grows that the companies will face roadblocks more formidable than paperwork."

I'm sure that ex-Everest students would make PERFECT picketers! They also tend to be good at sob stories, so the press just eats them up as "innocent underprivileged victims." This could get really fun!

Here is what I'm sending to local radio and tv stations to try to get some traction: (1) copies of the Business Week and HuffPost articles, as well as some of the previous articles detailing ECMC's ethical issues. (2) some excerpts from this site 9"a CCI employee discussion site") making it clear that it's going to be "business as usual" with ECMC and the same old CCI managers running the show. (3) date, time and place for a protest rally of concerned citizens and ex Everest students. Let's see how this goes! Pay it forward!

I think it'll be easy to get a pretest together here in Tampa. Everest has lots and lots of very disgruntled ex-students who would love to picket. Then it's just a question of making sure that all of the media outlets (tv, newspaper, radio) have all been made aware of it.

Anonymous60642: There have been quite a few players who seem like they've been working diligently to derail this (including Durbin and Harris). With some more "fuel" this could get to the critical mass stage necessary to cause Congress to take actual action to protect students from more of the same abuses. Unless we help provide some fuel, my guess is the deal will go through and it will be "business as usal" for both CCI and Congress.

So this has now attracted the attention of a broad-based, main stream business news magazine. This could get more interesting. Who thinks that the delay in closing is, as Jack and Dave state, simply a matter of obtaining complex regulatory approvals? Who thinks that the activists, Senator Durbin and others have a chance to derail the deal?

There are four sorts of folks who regularly read this site (1) trolls like CK who have never worked for CCI and have no business here (this category includes students and investment idiots), (2) ex-employees who were either fired 9and those of us left know that in many cases it was for trying to do the right thing) or who became disgusted with the company and left, (3) current employees who were a little late to start looking for something new or who live in a tougher job market, but who will be able to get something else, (4) the otherwise unemployable, who probably aren't even bothering to look because they know that no functioning company would want them. If you are a member of group two or three, now is the time to ask yourself if you need to speak up and finally share your experiences. If you have any guilt or remorse over what you were/are involved in, you might want to use the opportunity now to sleep better later. You probably have/had no choice but to go along with the malfeasance or be fired, but a lot of people were hurt by it. The foul miscreants responsible look like they just might get away with it and jump to an almost identical ship. Think about it.

This is the time to contact the press as it starts covering these demonstrations. make it clear that the wrongdoers are still in charge and that us employees have been given the impression (in some cases out and out told) that it will be "business as usual." Remind them of the nature of that business and what we see on a day-to-day basis. If you want to make a difference, past and present employees, now is your chance!
