Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

"We don't have details today, but we expect there will be a reduction in headcount in the U.S. related to the Canada news."

Hundreds of employees at the retailer's Minneapolis headquarters work on the retailer's Canadian operations. Some are fully dedicated to Target Canada, while others are only partially dedicated to the expansion.

"We are going evaluate each of those positions on a case-by-case basis," Target spokeswoman Molly Snyder said. "We don't have details today, but we expect there will be a reduction in headcount in the U.S. related to the Canada news."

Snyder said it's too early to say how many jobs will be cut or when those reductions will occur.

"There has been no reduction in headcount at this point," she said.

Heard Minneapolis employees will know Feb. 12th. Offers were rescinded for the March 2015 hires. Hoping for no more layoffs, as they are supposedly opening the "mini" Targets/City Targets and will need the Target Canada team to be placed there for future growth. Team Canada deserves more than that.

I was part of the original Target Canada team. This is total Target with its head up its big fat ass. Why couldn't Target tell the US-based employees who will stay and who will go on the day Target announced Canada will close? Because Target has its head up its fat ass every day, every minute of every day. I am no longer shopping at Target.

Those of us likely to be affected were told that our fate would be known mid-Feb.

I think we all knew this, we all expected to see something like this. You'd think Target would think this through and communicate to the employees that we will be doing things like this. This is what drives me nuts, there is a ton of change mgmt people at target, a ton of communication specialists but in the end we have difficult time covering very basic communication.
