I'm surprised Qualcomm hasn't adopted an unlimited but no accrued vacation policy yet to save on cost....
A lot of tech companies are already doing this....The basic idea behind it is employees have unlimited vacation, and if you want vacation, you simply ask your manager for it, and provided it doesn't interfere with work schedules, they give you the vacation time.....
On the other side of the coin, you will no longer accrue vacation days. So when/if you leave the company, you won't have any vacation pay balances the company owes you...
A lot of companies implemented this new vacation policy to reduce the outstanding liability it has on it's books. And for a company as large as QCOM, the savings would be huge...
Of course, it sort of sucks for workers, because the disclaimer for taking a vacation is "subject to manager approval", which means if your manager hates you, you're really screwed.... But from a bean counter perspective, it would save the company a lot of money....
Oh wait, I hope Qualcomm HR represents aren't reading this. Maybe I just gave them some ideas...lol....
