Thread regarding Schlumberger Ltd. layoffs

Brutal firing of employees in Houston

They just fired 20 guys in my office last week - each one was separately escorted out of the building to their cars without any notice - some of them were +20 years in the company and high performers. This was purely a cost decision

The humiliation for some of the people was unbearable - it's not finished yet either as Kibsgaard said on the con call he is ready to go again if needed

That said some of these guys walked into jobs with a competitor company who is taking advantage of good people becoming available on the market

Perhaps if kibsgaard and some of his management team were prepared to take temporary pay cuts some of our people could be retained for when business improves and we would be able to respond much quicker

MI SWACO is one of SLB segments. Their central office in Houston is famous for drilling muds used worldwide admit that and corrupt HR and managers. I've heard that there were some changes last year to mitigate this situation but nothing serious.

M-I SWACO just laid off several folks in their central office in Houston. Some of them were brilliant. The management did not like them so they got rid of them to save their asses

Big if there - but Kibsgaard is a loser and a crook who doesn't care about the people who are the lifeblood of the company so it ain't gonna happen.
