Kudos guys. These are great responses. And absolutely correct.
And usually people end up in a better position after being let go. I have a lot of friends and ex-colleagues who had been laid off one or twice in their lives, myself included. It's not the end of the word and we've all managed to end up in a better place/position/company over the long run. There is not a darn thing one can do about it now. Just face it with dignity, never look back and move forward.
Why do you think it's 'shame' - there is nothing one can do about it, why would be ashamed. I got a meeting invite for tomorrow, I'll go and face what I need to face. I did a great job for seven years and it was recognized. I liked working at Qualcomm and I had an opportunity to work on great projects with great people. I am being let go as a part of an internal business decision, and I am in piece with that. My skillset is more than sufficient to land me a job and I've saved enough while at Qualcomm to enoy some down time and invest time to find an even better opportunity. Overall, I am OK with this, I hate to leave and I'd stay if I could but at the same time I do get it that it's time to move on, and move on I will.
