Criminal Justice

Looks like CJ is one of those programs ecmc said they would review for not meeting outcomes. Good luck CJ folks...I'm sure you'll be kept around.

A CJ degree is the bottom of all degrees. Totally worthless, unless you are already working as a cop. Its not even good for toilet paper, too rough. They should cease all over the country. better the cop get a degree in business, that might help when they leave. Police Departments don't even want recruits with CJ degrees, they would rather teach them their way.

51390 - the problem is that our students don't want to take anything practical. You guide them toward health and they want to take MIBC, since actual healthcare work is "yucky." Well, how about Computer Science? "Sure, I'll learn how to be a game designer, that sounds pretty cool." They see cop shows and CSI (which is where this boom in CJ programs started) and they want to learn that. Our students SAY they want to get a job after they finish, but you can't get them to take the programs with honest high placement and good starting salaries. It must have something to do with the demographic that we market to. They're just not practically oriented. So you can shuffle around programs all you want, but we have the ones we have because that's where the demand is.

CJ programs are generally rip-offs for the students. There just aren't jobs out there. As far as I'm concerned, off with their heads and lets direct more students to in-demand fields like STEM-related ones (IT management, allied health).

I am looking at a local college group in Phoenix that still teaches CJ. Small program, but it's an opportunity to keep teaching.
