Confirming what someone else posted below. This is really bad and will affect hundreds of people. Most of the ABMs were working probably the hardest in the whole branch, long hours, etc. This is really shameful and bad reputation for Chase. There was a big lawsuit last year that was seeking overtime pay for ABMs, this has to do with the change for sure. I think the case was dismissed, but now they will probably move everyone to hourly and eliminate the position all together. They will probably pay ABMs a bit more than regular tellers. Bank of America had to deal with a huge class action suit seeking overtime pay for sales assistants at Merrill Lynch, this was in 2012 and the assistants got awarded tens of millions of dollars. I think Chase got scared and will go hourly 100%.

It is important some of us work years to become an an AVP now downgraded to senior officer as a sm--k in the face for all the hard work we did to get there and long hours
An Abm is more useful than a BM at times. They are in charge of operations, tellers, overrides, and sometimes have to go on the windows as well, plus scheduling. While a BM doesn't do sh-- except "coach" bankers but they prettt much make the money for the branch not the Bm. When bm is off, Abm has to her job plus be a banker if needed but when Abm is off you don't see the bm on the window or on top of operations. The one that said that they're not useful and the other that said they're dead weight, most likely worked in slow a-- branches where maybe they wasn't needed. But I guarantee that if they wasn't needed, pretty much the BM's didn't do sh-- either. Just MY opinion 😉
Yes abm are avps and the avp title had been eliminated I know I was an avp and got demoted to officer ii

This will never happen, sorry to break it out to you. Let's focus on RIFs and other relevant topics.
I do not think this is accurate
Why is this an issue at all?
Ditto (073 below)
Most of them are very hard working and most useful, at least in my experience.
It all depends how you look at it, some of them are OK, some of them are dead weight
ABMs are not that useful, in my opinion
are ABMs also called Assistant Vice-Presidents?
