A couple of my friends in finance and accounting are saying that Q2 earnings are going to be one of the worst on 8/18. Has anyone else heard this rumor from high up on the chain?

NO brains here!!!!! it could be a great company still, BUT,, they are not closing the stores,, 80 last Q2,, not even 40,, what a joke,, if they close the store that are loosing ,, they could turn it around in 1 quarter,, but NO guts
The true under performers are those in upper management like Gary Aldred and Julie Pohutsky (she works from Flordia! Out of the region she so called supports and has refused countless times to travel when a facility needed support)and who never leave the comfort of their home to visit a location. Why does this company continue to throw money down the toilet on these worthless turds? To further put the company in debt and harass their subordinates daily I may add. That's why people! They are corporate two-faced, spineless bullies.

It would be easy to just say it is Sargent, Parenos, Doody & Pannell, however to do so would just cause them to put more pressure on the stores, and that is NOT the solution. No matter what the year end results, you know they will take their full bonuses this year though.

In other words, 20% less business traffic coming through your doors. I'm not too surprised, because your customer service is THE WORST!!! When you try to find ways to screw customers, so you don't have to honor Staples product warranties, yeah...customers will be leaving and NEVER coming back.
As others have said in the various threads and replies here, the writing is on the wall for Staples. Get out now!
When I worked there, I was written up for underperforming sales. Although I tried, and turned things around, it wasn't good enough. So I ask you Staples, after years of declining 401k investments, declining stock, and store closings... Who's the underperforming employee(s) now?
As the earnings were postponed from 8/18 to 8/20, I would expect your friends words are on par.
