Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Unions don't matter anymore

The problem is there is no more money for front-line employees (sales, distribution, store staff, etc.), union or not. Doesn't matter what your Union does for you. The normal greedy execs would rather close the company and take their money and run rather than keep the business going.

what do you have to show when there's no union anyway? be ready to get fire/layoff at will.

Execs are counting on people like you who want to stick with the company. Form a union and then they blame the union and front-liners when the company fails. They'll just move on to be execs of other big companies, and they've already got millions in foreign bank accounts. What do you have to show?

I rather take my chances with a union than with out. Right now they're just try out their 'strategy' blindly and then when it fail take it out on us front-line employees while they still get their bonuses. Maybe with the union they'll think things through because it'll hit their wallet when they fail.
