Why is everyone so angry? ISM is adding staff in Mpls HQ. At least 10 more positions. And Target is taking logistics people from DC's to make everything more streamlined. Target Canada is adding staff at HQ. At least another 10 positions. Target Canada is opening another 50 stores next year. So why is everyone angry?

To Anonymous11168. You are not happy, so just quit. There are no jobs in retail right now, other than Target. So if you aren't happy, don't drag the rest of the ship down with you. Target knows what it is doing....wear your khaki and red and get back to work.
I left target earlier this year, there are better job out there. I started working at target 8 yrs ago straight out of college, I didn't know any better about working environment, thinking that the way they treat employes is normal. It is not! Look outside the company while you still can, there are better job out there, don't wait till they give you the boot before searching.

I think a lot of people are missing the point of what is taking place. Unionizing won't keep a department from being eliminated or keep a building from being shut down. It may give you some representation during corrective action but I don't know how much more they can do. I have worked for a union before and all I got was a decent severance package for only working there for a short time.
I have worked for another Target competitor who didn't allow unions. This was over 10 years ago. They still don't allow unions. I feel that Target will remain true to that cause.
I don't see this being a big deal as far as the media is concerned either. Jobs aren't being eliminated in large scale. We have all been offered positions within the company. If 250 of us had been eliminated this week, then maybe, but we weren't. You still have a job.
I am one that is losing a position. I will be seeking other opportunities within Target. I feel that the company still has a future in retail and in my area, this is what works best for me.

when this guy's department gets the axe he will feel differently And it will happen. Thanks to the data breach, the screw up of expanding to Canada and the federal government healthcare laws I expect Target to continue to move most of the jobs to temp workers and outsource the rest. TARGET heading the way of Sears and JC Penny.
I'm mad because my dept got cut, as well as others and a lot of good people are losing their positions. This is not a matter of working hard enough, this is target trying to be...how did they word it? Oh yes, "relevant and profitable" AT THE COST OF OUR JOBS! Did you really think there would be no backlash?
Your C, not working hard enough is way off the mark. Our jobs was eliminated by a bunch of slugs at HQ that only new us by employee numbers. ISM, sounds like your drink the koolaid you poor soul.
Not to get in the middle of the argument but target and trustwave are both being sued over the data breach, google it. If you look on page 7 of your target stock info booklet, it says target is in private litigation with the government. See for yourself !!!
A. I don't eat the shit Target feeds me.
B. Target is not being sued by the Federal Government.
C. If your job is being eliminated, it is your fault. You didn't work hard enough.
D. Target HQ in Mpls is adding hundreds of jobs. Target Canada is adding at least 10 people. Target ISM is adding at least 10 people. Target logistics is adding at least 50 people, including PM's.

We are angry because they ripped the jobs out of our community. There are not a lot of jobs that pay well in this area. They treat us poorly. The benefits have gone downhill considerably. Target is being sued by the federal government,how long do you think your job is safe for, obviously you are an idiot executive that eats the Shit target feeds you!!!
