Typo: I would used that term "skill" set loosely.
I was used that term "skill" set loosely.
Eventually it will become obvious to the Follett family that outsourcing is COSTING them money, not saving it. Of course we may all have been laid off before that happens.
The outsourcing decision won't change, this is the CIO's skill set look at his background. This leadership team will never admit that they made a mistake......unless they can blame it on someone else.
Outsourcing development has not cleared up any issues, it has cost more money, created more issues combined with lost of sales, productivity and eventually contracts.
Network outsourcing is the next steps after the data centers were outsourced. A clear no confidence vote for ol' Rog.
Perhaps they meant finely tuned, efficient engine. Humming along on all cylinders.
Every single thing you mention contributes to the success and profits at Follett. You are the incubator. Outsourcing development was clear because of continued and repeated issues and high costs. Have not heard anything about network outsourcing.
IT is NOT an economic engine. It’s a support service FOR the economic engine. Like lights, telephones, and all the other tools you use to run the business. Part of the systemic problems at Follett that MLS can’t seem to grasp. Throw 58 mil at the new building so they can feel like big shots, put 50 mil in a venture capital fund and nothing for the human resources (the people) that are the business. Grade = Fail!
BK we know this is you, deny all you like. This has got your signature written all over it or you have a look a like, heaven forbid!
I am at the top.....I am the mighty CNS
It has to start at the top, business 101
I'd like to see the world for once,
All standing hand in hand,
And hear them echo through the hills,
For peace throughout the land
The CORP service level and satisfaction is unacceptable. It would never be tolerated outside of Follett!!
Confirmed identity. Still useless.
wrong person (asked said no but good to have a cheerleader) LOL
Hahaha I knew it was him ... I'll be polite and leave it at that. But I am thinking something that would be soo appropriately inappropriate.
Get a room with yourself BK.
Corporate rules!, especially corporate network services.
Spending?
Concerning your definition of economics. Follett has some good books available on the subject, you should be able to get a discount on one too.
Therefore corp is not an economic machine but a log jam of inefficiency. And cronyism.
Name one corp it staff worth a dime.
An economic machine is effective and efficient in what it does.
CORP leadership is clueless. They don't understand the businesses and as a result they put out stupid directives. They don't understand the consequences of their decisions.
There is no partnership between Corp and the damn divisions. Corp wants to save their own and lay blame on the divisions. Really how much have they saved? Nothing $$$ wise. Customer service is in the crapper. Great now we have Corp as a vendor that does not understand the business at the divisions.
I think this is from Networks and to clarify in order to consider yourself an economic machine it would be excepted that your area is a profit center and generates revenue correct? That is not the case though is it? You have your budget allocated from those "damn divisions" that generate the revenues that your area spent and spent a lot.
POS is a mess and old old old. registers freezing and just shutting down. A huge mess in the stores. And I DON'T CARE. Not busting my ass ANYMORE.
I don't think you'll find too many that agree with your perspective, but you have a right to your opinion. And by Corp you wouldn't be including Network by any chance, just a guess. Well as they say, time well tell and they results of the new initiatives will be in, probably won't be that long a wait either. Oh and please stop blaming the past it's so passé since it has been awhile that the new mgnt has been leading the show.
FSS is an IT mess now. No direction. Useless mgmt.
I agree completely and when they outsource that can be as rude and change their minds as much as they like to those companies workers.
Senior management needs to envision exactly what they want to accomplish with their systems. They also need to be closely involved developing and finalizing that vision. Clear intent is essential, coupled with an equally clear strategic pathway to achieve that intent. The Follett approach always skips this step and begins with either development or selection of a software tool resulting in lots of scope change along the way. The goal is to figure out exactly what they want their systems to do and then construct a plan for achieving those goals in a reasonable time frame and affordable costs.
If this is what you call fine tuned you are arrogant and blind as to what is happening within your economic machine.
Sanjeev’s only concern is his 1.5 million dollar mortgage. ML’s only concern is making the Follett stock worth more. Get rid of the old timers that built the company so there is no one around to criticize the brilliant management of the Kfart team trying to reinvent the wheel even though they don’t know what the wheel is for Follett.
@10703
Corp MGMT has no idea how to service internal or external customers. Their only short or long term plan is butt kissing the CIO.
Don't blame project managers for scope change. That rests squarely at senior leadership from ML down to VP's. They don't know what they want. In fact, if you were asked to repeat the IT strategy for FHEG and FSS you would not have an answer because they don't communicate one. What is the 1, 3 and 5 year plans for IT. The only strategy communicated is outsource new systems, keep existing employees maintaining the legacy systems and then cut them when you don't need them. And if someone is going to leave, promote them as the short term cost is inconsequential.
Corp MGMT is not the problem. It was the damn divisions. Corp has a finely tuned economic machine. No changes needed. In fact, corp leadership has taken over FHEG.
What about FSS and corp mgmt changes? There has been nothing!
Well, don't hold your breath that it will get better. what passes for project management doesn't seem to have a clue how to manage a project. there are way too many people making conflicting decisions about what they want...and then changing their minds after it is coded. consultants don't care as long as they get paid.
