Thread regarding Southwestern Energy Co. layoffs

Great company to work for

Nothing to complain about, good mgmt, good prospects. I am a bit concerned with the overall trend in the industry, we have both Encana and CHK cutting their staff big time, the whole sector is shaken by this. Things might and will improve but I am concerned regarding how this may impact us at Southwestern. I know that we've been through rough times before and that SWN was resilient but still, cannot stop thinking about the negative side. Any thoughts?

A big update to your fairy tale world. The company is going through a downsizing phase and basically has no operation or development capital for the next several years due to some less than stellar decisions made by management. A realistic overview of the company and you would see that office/management numbers are higher than the actual field hands. There is no continuity to the company or direction as a team but it's comprised of several smaller teams that are all trying to be the "Ones" in control. There is no working together on anything. Moral is at a pathetic low and management spins rhetoric out both sides of their mouths like politicians. The facts are most of them are so out of touch with the daily operations out in the field that they don't even know how the processes work or for that matter what they are. They rely on the field hands to innovate and produce while they sit in their offices engineering and dictating poor policy. You have the corporate offices in Houston, and then you have the other office in Conway that thinks they are the corporate office and are trying to run the entire company. I don't see much of a future for this company unless they stop spending and learn to function with the mentality that they ONE TEAM in a production environment instead of their current mindset of reckless spending. I think time will tell a story of under the table dealings and shenanigans from the lowest levels of management to a considerable way up the ladder. Those dealings take place on a daily basis and most know it. They also know that corporate will say one thing but also turn a blind eye to them.
