Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

When evaluating a company, you want to see how they treat shareholders, employees and the country. Target covers item #1 (shareholders) and the mgmt could give a fck about #2 (employees) and #3 (the country). This board proves my statement about #2 - folks are just miserable and feel used and under-appreciated. Target's financial statements and tax reports would support my statement regarding #3, we have tax shelters and we outsource work, simply we'd fuck our country to make shareholders happy. Now, there are companies who are good at #1, #2 or #3 or a combination of the three. RJ covers #1 and I can tell you that there are still companies who cover all three items - they are hard to find, but they do exist - this is where the disconnect is and we'll continue getting f-ed across the board if we continue having focus on #1 only... It's simple as that - you can talk to me about free markets, and shareholders and anything you like but life is more complex than that - the society itself is more than the market and stock going up. It's also about how happy people are and how protected our country is - cannot separate the two. We drank cool-aid that #1 is all what it matters and look where it got us - we are being outsourced, the environment is raped, money hidden in overseas tax shelters, people are just unhappy. Yes, shareholders are generally happy but they are just a part of equitation - so, the discontent will continue to build up, we'll bitch about it for next 20 years, a generation will be lost and then we'll change the system to take care of #2 and #3... It'll be late for most of us but this country has proven that we can regenerate and fix structural things - it'll take a while though...
