Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Job security

Can Ford still be considered a company that offers job security? Or has that time long passed?

Can any company really offer that? Maybe Amazon, Facebook, Google. Those huge global players that cross all industries. For everyone else, I would say no.

Here is the problem. When you destabilize your workforce, you destroy trust and teamwork. Knowledge becomes something to hoard, and your coworker's failure is your temporary job security. In this environment you are forced to see anyone new as a competitor...your potential replacement and NOT a team member.

It's funny that people that worked in company blame the top managment when reality they are too blame because they created a bias culture against new hires and never saw the outside companies as real competition. Ford doesn't promote employees based on their vision and capabalities but it's based on how many years you seat behind your cube and if only say yes to managment.

I do think that Ford offers great job security compared to most jobs out there right now. But, given the current state of the job market, that's saying almost nothing. Ford is not broken, it's the broader job market. Nothing is secure anymore, and it's a huge problem.

The idea of job security at Ford ended when I saw people walked out with their box in 2008.

When I hired in 30+ years ago, the elders used to say just buy Ford stock and you will be a millionaire in 30 years.

Times have changed.

Unfortunately, some of our team members will be working in security, parking lot security.

Absolutely not! If the stocks go down they can always do this under another smarter name

No job security. Always have a plan B in this economy, especially if working automotive in Michigan.

Some of these jokers in our department should have been gated less than 90-days into their long babysitting career, what a joke.

I have been in the company for over 20 yrs. What I see today and happening with the new org. structure and the BS that is going on. I don’t think it has long term job security. People are becoming more self preserved and not helping others to protect themselves. New people come and go like a start up company. It’s become like this because of the BS that comes from the top down. Ford doesn’t consider itself as a family company anymore. Goodluck

Great job security, considering all the dead weight they carried, for years.
