I did get laid of today after working 4 hours of overtime. I am going to get paid my overtime and they are giving me almost 20,000 in severance in exchange for a promise not to sue them. They did not sick Deputy whose his face on me though. For that, I consider myself fortunate and am very grateful. They may call me back if they need my services in the future.

Overtime in a downturn with layoffs. Something isn't adding up.

Downturn? Our projects last years. A shortterm drop oil price dip is not a downturn. All sorts of deals are being signed, read MDR'd press releases. Maybe some other reason you got laid off and a few more $$. Did you sign that paper they put in front of you?
BTW did you also agree not to disclose the terms of your severance? I don't know who you are but they do.
Yeah, scroll down. Some people are not happy with the way they were treated. And aren't backing down. That's what's causing change. Not DD calling in from his jet.
So the one thing DD does to benefit the rank and file is not rough them up when they get thrown to the curb? He's actually paying to that? I think you're giving him and the Assclown League too much credit. More likely the spotlight on inappropriate conduct is creating some heat. Bad PR and a lwsuit in the making.
DD has been trying to mellow the old process of laying off the CB&I way by turning the knife once the victim is stabbed in the heart. CB&I routinely discarded their folks like Alabama trash without giving the employee even a moment to wave or just say good bye to team mates. Layoffees were marched to their desks to get their stuff and then manhandled out the door by the notorious hired rent-a-cop we have all read about. Some of the nastier managers seemed to enjoy this process. I'm glad to hear they are getting better about not humiliating people on their last day.
So its not all bad. They at least have learned not to mistreat people during a layoff. That's an improvement in my book
