They'll spin off or sell off parts of their business the way Ford spun off Visteon. The spin-off companies can then do the layoffs. There are many creative ways that VW can reduce headcount without laying anyone off.

I would not want to be a car repair man 10 years from now, 80% less parts, nothing to break...

Maybe not in the drive train, but there are still plenty of things that can break.

They also said that by 2025 they will be completely switching to electric and that those models will have 80% less parts if compared to their current line up.

They noted that the government, suppliers and workers should take a note of this.

I would not want to be a car repair man 10 years from now, 80% less parts, nothing to break...
