Thread regarding Follett layoffs

2% Across the Board

Where's the incentive?

We need to stop calling this "merit" as job performance is irrelevant. We can't even call it a "cost-of-living adjustment." The Social Security Administration announced the COLA increase for 2019 is 2.8%.

Meanwhile, the average "merit" increase for 2019 is ranging 2.7% for average performers, up to 4.7% for top performers with most American workers seeing a raise of around 3%.

What's the solution?

After 20 years as a manager I left a couple years back. The best decision I ever made. It's like you have Stockholm Syndrome working there. Get out, the job market is the best it ever been.

It s---s to really like your job, do very well at your job, be told by your boss you do a great job, only to be paid at a level that qualfies me for public assistance in my state. Manager, long term. Pitiful.

With a tight labor market you will likely never have such favorable conditions to find a new job.

If you're a top producer in a dying, poorly performing company, what's your net contribution? GET OUT!

Jonestown jungle juice. Now that's funny. I'll bet millennials have no idea what that is.

I started a second job after the announcement. When they really mess the bed and announce a lackluster or lack completely of bonus (I made my comp sales figures) I’ll be reminded why my resume is out there. I hate this. But I suppose it’s my own fault for being a tool and drinking the jonestown jungle juice for too long.

The solution is leave Follett and find a job that is worthy of your skills. Who sticks round for a maybe 2% increase every year?
