Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

Is there any point in trying?

I got the WFR mail last week. I worked hard all year and did whatever I was asked to do - its so unfair.

now I just can't motivate myself above the fear of WFR. I just want to behave like most others seem to and slacken off. I'm already planning a sick week for time off (why not?)

No pay raise in years, no paying for office supplies,, telephone, internet, multiple monitor's , keyboards , mice . just lousy laptop with too fee USB ports, not enough disk space and not enough RAM .

Means I only work 35 - 40 hour weeks instead of 60 - 70 as I did before.

No point in trying to work harder @ DXC as Mikey has banked the acheivements and raised the bar for performance appraisals. Consequently with the blessing of HR then DXC employees are expected to work longer hours and be more productive whilst the bank balance grows.

Such a waste of life working at DXC.

With any luck there will be many volunteers for this WFR, I for one! I'm more worried I won't get it!

We got an email last Monday asking to express an interest in wfr, still waiting to find out when I'm going to get an answer to whether I'm getting wfr, does anyone know how long the process takes?

I thought WFRs were notified on Thursdays and with only one day notice to pack up and leave on Friday. Why are you still there?

No don't try any more and do as much as possible or little in training your replacement/s - no point anyway as they wouldn't pick up or willing to learn anything from you and your WFR role.

If possible do bare minimum until WFR, take some time off with family and friends with holiday and when you have been WFR and recovered from this %% company then look for your next position.

I was handed the WFR back a few weeks ago when it all started. Hit the ground running, depending on your location, apply for unemployment, update resume, update LinkedIn profile, start searching on Indeed and LinkedIn for jobs, and set a goal of applying for 3-5 jobs a day for the first week or two. Get yourself in a routine, don't sleep in, start exercising, and getting out of the house for walks sometimes. I'm already interviewing for jobs, but know the hiring process for many jobs that pay well can be 30+ days so the sooner you start the better off you will be.

Now I would say some of the people above are being super nice. I didn't train my replacement as I was only told on Thursday that my last day was Friday. But I didn't go out of my way to do anything for anyone to help because how did they help me? Just like you I'm sure you worked long hours and took on more then your job role required to help out the team. But in the end where did that get me with this company, no where. All I did was pretty much cancelled all my meetings, immediately started updating my resume, and reached out to a select few to tell them Friday is my last day and logged offed off. I didn't so a single thing for DXC once I got notice and really why should I?

The only reason I still worked there was because it was easy then having to do a job search and interviews and all that fun stuff which would require a good amount time and effort. I wasn't happy, but not unhappy enough to leave. But this doesn't mean I didn't work hard, because I did and a lot of us did. But its funny when I look at who they kept it was a good amount of people who made much less then me and didn't really care at all about anything. Status quo is what these people did well. This layoff was all about $$$ and making the books look right for the C levels to get there bonuses.

Look at this as the motivation to find something better. I'm already interviewing for jobs way better then last role and with better companies. DXC or CSC or HP looks great on a resume and so many recruiters pull those first because if you can hack it there in that sh*t hole then you must be a good employee.

Keep your chin up..

Do try, try your best to find another job!

The day the UK WFR email dropped I was straight on to recruiters.

We had redundancies literally the week before the WFR was announced so we all (naively) assumed we were OK for a few months at least - turned out to be a week.

plan to train your replacement (if any) or get your process documented, if you care, I had to do it because the manager asked me to do so, I prepared two sessions and shared the very basics of my role, not sharing any automated tools I developed over the years, definitively take a couple days off or take time for yourself while appear "online"

Who cares anyway, try to get the best of it and look for what the industry is looking outside.

You need to see it as a very bad marriage with a narcistic person. You feel like you have failed and the fear of leaving everything behind is terrifying. BUT once you are out, you can finally start in finding your self-esteme - you notice employers that do recognize your work. Take advantage of the WFR and close the door behind you. The sun will start shining after a long time in the dark.

It is nothing personal, it is just the greed and bad management. It is a sinking ship.

I've said it on here dozens of times... don't take it personally, they axe top performers and critical personnel even more often than lesser people. Its not about your performance, its more about your salary and your location.

Definitely don't get yourself into a rut whereby you collapse into lethargy before leaving or you will take that depression with you. Try to keep your pace up, it will do you better on the other side. (even if that only helps the greedy bugg3rs here at DXC)
