They got rid of the bargain section a few years back at our store. Now it's coming back.
We're suppose to be a high end store now we'll be Discount Barnsie's and when those don't sell, it's game over.
This has NOTHING to do with liquidation.
Bargain books have been a feature of B&N for years.
They lost a ton of business when they fired the over 3000 ( the more accurate figure) in Feb.18.All of them, their families & Friends stopped patronizing BN-
They sure did !
The numbers after Feb.2018 proved it !

Then, there’s the poor customer service associated with the full time knowledgeable staff gone and hours cut on the floor, that drove even the regulars away. People are STILL buying books. They’re NOT buying them from BN.
It's the beginning of the end. No one is buying books through B&N anymore, this is desperation.

Quite so. Publisher remainders have a great margin, and selling them at a proper discount is a fine way to keep them out of landfills, which is where no book, great or shoddy, should ever find itself.
