Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Too late to change

A company going nowhere. The incompetency grows every year. Too late to change. Best to sell to Hasbro and maybe give some of the brands other than Barbie and Hot Wheels some hope.

Pretty much what exactly what @Zktalry-3xhv said. We need to accept it's time to move on...

Upper management strategy in a nutshell.

Cutting product cost is panacea.

Force fit new technology into product is innovation.

Bottom-line, ship products on schedule.

Only to find out that no one want to buy it.

a tough but smart choice to take the package. At least you leave on your own terms with something instead of of nothing.

It’s painful to wait. Just ask HR for the package. It’s less than what I expected. Knowing that it would go worse, I accepted it. The package would buy me time to think about my next step. Good luck you guys.

You can try to position yourself for a severance package, but I feel Ynot has or will trim them to Happy Meal status.

Companies can be in the state Mattel is in for years. Decades. Not bankrupt but not thriving (TRU, Sears) the question is what kind of people does a company in this state attract and retain? Aggression preferred. Talent optional.

Best thing to do if you work at Mattel is position yourself to be on the receiving end of a severance package during the next round of layoffs. Then you can take your time in finding your next job. No reason to bust your a-- for a company going nowhere.

Disagree, Mattel is in the movie business now. We are all waiting for the big ‘Jackpot’. I sure hope the brands are aligned with the movie themes. Unlike GOT and mega.... coming out in September? We missed the mark on that launch.
