It kicked in exactly as the paychecks ended. I was paid the first severance payment two weeks after my last real paycheck. They also pay out unused vacation time, so the first check will be bigger than normal. Whatever they said about health care, my COBRA is now over $900 per month, including dental. It was about $300 previously.
