There is an interesting rumor floating within IBM. It’s the 1/3, 1/3, 1/3 rumor for GTS. 1/3 gets RA’ed, 1/3 gets absorbed by the other divisions, and 1/3 gets sold. (approx 33k within each 1/3) Revenue split goes 65% to IBM (IBM keeping the profitable parts) and 35% to the buyer (IBM selling off the lower profit parts). The 1/3 getting RA’ed is the shrink rate of contract renewal AGAIN ONLY RUMOR Good luck to all

Not saying IBM is set to rationalize it numbers in it's Global Services divisions, that's a given - the 'rule of thirds' approach just seems a little too tidy for IBM management to go ahead and pull off.
It'll be the usual disorganized 'fire sale' they continue to use.
In the old days we had a director who ran the whole lab.. today we have directors who do nothing but push paper and make presentations about what others are doing.. then they get the bonuses and the folks doing the work are told "be glad you have a job"
sad state of affairs..

How is that one got this "MARK" ? What kind of things must happen to get this ? A lot of bad feedback from Project managers or co-workers or SDM or customer on that person ? Or every year PBC rating 2 ? And who is the final guy that is putting the names in the hat ? Manager of the team or HR girls or some upper management of the IBM Centre of the country where is this IBM located? I somehow do not get it what kind of rules or things must be in bad star position to be marked for next round of lay off... Thank you in advance for some clarification.

Pitty I was here nealry 6 years. Was trying to do my job as best as I can. But somehow I was marked.
IBM is incredibly bloated with first/second line managers, people with "worldwide" in their title, etc who do nothing but call meetings and generate reports. When a company is "matrixed" i.e. people not in your chain of command can request things form you, you know it's far gone. I thought the federal bureaucracy was bad, yikes
